Brother Yat Restaurant @ USJ Subang Jaya

I'm craving for this restaurant quite some time ago. It's very near to my residential area, always came across but no chance to try it out, co-incidence the F4 Fish Head Restaurant were full house on Mother's Day 2012, so I decided to eat at Brother Yat Restaurant.

Factories area

After I read quite number of reviews from food bloggers, their signature dish was "Sauna Prawns" Firstly I find it hard to find this place, but through out research and guided by GPS, Brother Yat located somewhere among the factories, light industrial factories in USJ, Subang Jaya

A pot of hot tea

Heard of the stories of cooking Sauna Prawns, now is my chance to watch LIVE show, how they actually sauna it. It's actually a very simple method, require a hot pot filled with sauna stones and a cup of Carlsberg beer. Live tiger prawns are then poured on top of the preheated pot, follow by a cup of Carlsberg beer into the bottom segment of the pot, and then cover the lid, preventing the evaporated beer from escaping. Tiger prawns cook with steam in quick timing, actually to avoid overcook it.

After the steam was over and tiger prawns turn into orange color, means it's ready to eat. I couldn't believe with my eyes tiger prawns were fresh after I tear it out. It' was juicy with the smell of alcohol when I first tasted on the prawn. Nearly forget that there's a special homemade sauce blended ginger and garlic with some vinegar for you to eat with it together. Tiger prawns weighted about 500 grams - RM45.00

Next dishes was the Mantis prawns deep fried with salted eggs it's good to eat. In my own individual opinions, I still prefer the  F4 Fish Head Restaurant, even more crunchy and taste better.

My youngest brother love eating fried pork skin, marinated with some secret ingredients. Pork Skin were crispy indeed. The sauce was nice, with a bit of sourish and black soy taste. Can even just eat like snacks or treat as appetizers before the main course arrive.

Lastly, was the green leaves vegetables, sweet kang kung leaves fried with sambal belacan, tasted alright. Everything well balance here, the food in this place in general tasted good, quick services and you do not need wait for long hours just to fill up your stomach.

Enjoy dining here, I have tried different styles in cooking prawns such as deep-fried, grilled, boiled, salad, steamed, fried, etc but just not like this in a unique way of cooking sauna prawns. Recommended to try the "Sauna Prawns"
