What is Stress?
Recently during a meeting with some friends, they told me about how much stress they were going through because of economy, business, family and all sorts of things. For curiosity, I checked the online dictionary what is the modern scholars' explanation of stress and it is said that, "Stress is the consequence of the failure to adapt to change." Surprisingly, I think to a certain extent, they are quite right.
Stress is a result of inflexibility and non-acceptance. In other words, it is caused by strong attachment and expectations. When there is hope or expectation, there is fear that this expectation will not come true, that is to say whatever you expect may not happen as you wish. So stress comes.
Thinking of this stresses me out too. One of my friends was almost crying because despite he was very successful in his business, he was having stress trying to keep up with the success, even though he has made a lot of money in the past 10 years, he is now under a lot of stress because he now has to work very hard to keep the level of the wealth. I guess when he first started with his business, he must have thought, "Well, if I make that many millions, I will be so happy and so contented."
Then when he has made that many millions, he thought of making billions. He started off with giving himself a lot of stress by setting a target to achieve, when he reached this target, he gave himself another excuse to be stressed out by setting a higher target. So there is no peace in his mind and there is no stress-free moment that he could relax. Now, he has even come to me crying because he was under tremendous stress trying to maintain making that much money.
This is the same with couples or relationships. I had an old friend who visited me recently and she looked extremely tired and unhappy. She told me that when she got married a few years ago, she thought that she had found the right man who had money, position and fame. She even said that he was a prayer answered. Now, they are thinking of separating because they can't stand each other. So this is the thing. Everyone expects money, good partner, good business to be their solution to happiness.
The truth is that if you are not grounded spiritually, and if you keep looking outside for a solution, you will never be out of stress. If you are grounded spiritually, you would understand and master the skills of living in the presence, this will at least keep you out of stress.
The only way you can help yourself is through spiritual guidance and through spiritual practice.I have checked myself a couple of times too. Since I am in human form, I also have propensities to experience stress. The other day, I was thinking about setting up schools for nuns, one in Ladakh and one in Nepal, and about the new schools for monks in Ladakh and Sikkim. I was thinking, worrying and calculating. I did absolutely nothing the entire day, just thinking, worrying, calculating the budget and getting myself stressed. At the end of the day, I checked what had I done the entire day. I did nothing, besides experiencing worries and stress. So, nothing was achieved and one whole day was wasted.
Being stressed is a waste of time and it is really a killer. Instead of wasting your time stressing yourself out, you might as well relax and practise Guru Yoga and meditation whenever you feel stressed or stuck in a position where you cannot find an immediate solution. If you have a great sense of understanding of spirituality and if you have a trained mind through spiritual practice etc., even if the world collapses, even if the stock market collapses, even if your business fails, you will be okay.
You can still be fearless and have the courage to live a fruitful and beneficial life and if you choose to start your business again, you will not be discouraged, instead you will be more encouraged and more confident, because you would understand the meaning of impermanence, the meaning of precious human life, the meaning of karma, the meaning of suffering and the meaning of non-attachment. You can be stress-free and you can be genuinely happy because this happiness comes from your inner support and not depending on external circumstances.
It is very important that this routine of spiritual practice is not broken. Spirituality is truly the backbone of your life and your happiness. Without spirituality, I can tell you that you will definitely be overwhelmed by stress and all kinds of ups and downs. Spirituality through daily formal practice will keep you grounded and it is the best solution to your stressful situation.

Why Aren't Things Working As Well As They Should Be?
Personal note from the Author: I wrote this note on the train this morning after reading about the suicide about a promising and good looking young man. I wrote this article so that others who are possibly thinking about ending their lives...or indulging in a very unhealthy lifestyle....perhaps from depression...or from self-inflicted pain to live on.
To fully experience the miracles and beauty of life and be part of the Good Fight. To experience the excitement of not knowing what surprises that Life would bring to you.
You were born to live, to love, to feel pain, to learn and it’s all part of the natural process.
Why Aren't Things Working As Well As They Should Be?
There is a stark difference between wanting to turn your dreams into reality and obsessing over your goals. When you become obsessed over something, the passion disappears. The hope disappears. The love disappears.
The principle wouldn’t work because you misalign yourself with the laws of the Universe, which is like a wave that ebbs and flows, and you ride on that wave. It is never about you. It is about the world-at-large. It is about love.
Yet, we should never forget our own goals. We should never lose sight of our dreams. But one should not be mistaken into adapting the successes of others onto oneself because it becomes all about 'them', and not a part of you. Envy develops. Greed engulfs you. Misery overwhelms you. All of which are the opposite of what attracts. It becomes your Zahir - it can either being you heaven, or it can make your life a living hell.
Then one might ask, "If that is so, why is it that others, who are seemingly ill-hearted and (possibly) less capable than you, receiving abundance from the Universe?" And the answer would be: We don't know. And you don't have to know.
Take a moment to think about some of the situations in your own life where things just never work out?
It could be a failed relationship.
It could falling into the same pattern of finding a partner who never loves you the way you want.
It could be a failed business deal.
If the anguish arising from these memories still engulf you and if you are still finding the answer why it's all happening to you - you don't have to know why, because it doesn't matter anymore. Your past does not equate your future.
Let go.... Move on...

Love is...

Love is....
- Knowing that part of the reason being here in this world is to devote ourselves to the betterment of the fellow man
- Cherishing thy enemy because he is an everyday presence…that it is he who sharpens and develops us
- The smile you get from a loved one first thing in the morning and receiving a gesture of genuine kindness from a stranger in the streets
- When all conflicts end and strangers become brothers
- Not about possession, and no one who truly loves you will impose thoughts, actions or words that make you guilty
- A feeling that turns hate, envy and aggression to dust. It is a feeling that fills every cell in our body. Love is all-consuming
- The spark that motivates you to pursue your destiny and it doesn’t mean sacrificing your destiny or your happiness for the sake of others including your loved ones
- Our reason for living. It gives our dreams meaning. It is the source of life
- A part of the language of enthusiasm. It is a part in your search for something you believe in and desire
- Present where freedom exists.

He reminded me about my old rusty relationship. To love someone it's not an easy thing but ""Love exists when you truly understand the meaning of freedom""
I put this in my mind always!! ^^

A Lesson about Humility
A Lesson about Humility
Success is all around us in the manifestation of people we know or have heard about in the news – top earning celebrities, famous sports-people, corporate high-flyers, rich businessmen and women, and so on. The funny thing is, when we human beings have attained some form of success, we tend to have our heads “expand” a little bit and credit the success exclusively to our hard work, intelligence and even luck. It’s always about the “me”.
As a result, we adopt a “high-and-mighty” attitude and look down on people whom we perceive as being less successful than us. We give less respect to those who are less intelligent, fortunate or capable as us - one friend of mine was upset because there had been someone in her life who looked down on her simply because she grew up in a low-income family.
Coming down to earth, what we do not realise is that unknowingly, a huge part of our success was made possible thanks to divine intervention – in the form of a Bodhisattva (the Buddhist equivalent of a saint whose mission is to help people in this world) – some call it the Universe – others call it God or Guardian Angel – that is watching over us, lifting us over the pitfalls of life, making sure that we are doing the right things on the right path. None of our success would be possible without divine help. But sadly, some people just don’t see the divine intervention!
It has been said that nothing happens by coincidence and everything happens for a reason. The only way to affirm this is to recall your personal experiences. Was there ever a time when you received an opportunity that you would otherwise have missed? Have you met strangers who suddenly appeared at a critical stage in your life, giving you the guidance and advice that led you towards your goals?
Think about it.
And if, the next time we start to feel that success is getting to our heads, please recall this valuable lesson.

What Makes Person Beautiful?
File transferred completed, double click on the file.. loading.. n opening up his thoughts...

Well, one friend suggested that getting a new hairstyle was the answer.
A female friend of mine was criticised by her own friends about her looks and succumbing to peer influence, she spent her hard earned salary on an image makeover so she could look “prettier”.
Some male friends whom I know spend thousands of dollars on expensive clothing and all kinds of “gadgets” that claimed to improve one’s looks. All in the name of attracting the girl of their dreams.
While physical appearance does play a part in getting you that “first step in the door”, there are also other “invisible” qualities that make a person beautiful. It would be shallow to think that looks are everything and perceive hidden beauty with our naked eye. A wonderful lady I met recently precisely illustrates this point.
I met “D” at a seminar and at first glance you would notice that she has a lazy eye. Perhaps to some people, it would feel a little awkward at first to engage in an eye-to-eye conversation, because we all have been programmed since the beginning of time to establish a correct line of sight.
Despite being so, it was her outward confidence, sunny personality and energy that made her incredibly attractive to me, and suddenly I found myself appreciating her for who she truly is and not how she looks. But there was something else about D that made her truly special and sometimes it’s hard to describe what we call the “X” factor in a person because some things have to be experienced to be understood. All I can say is that she radiated a special kind of energy that could only be borne out of love for the people around her. Because whether you believe or not, we unknowingly give out signals to the Universe and those signals often return to us in the form of a response we get from the receiving party. In D’s case, she radiated so much positive signals that her inner beauty shone through and people who are open to receiving her love can sense it. Because I did and it felt absolutely wonderful!
So this is an important lesson for us to look beyond the superficial and understand that one’s beauty shouldn’t be judged from the exterior. However, this doesn’t mean that we should do nothing about making ourselves feel good. We should still hit the gym once in a while, go swimming, take up a sport, and engage in wholesome activities that keep our bodies fit, strong and healthy! Because your mind and body are part of the same system and therefore changes in one part of the system affects the other part. If you feel strong physically, your mind would naturally be strong too.
And before you start worrying about what others think about you, remember the words of inspirational author Paulo Coelho: “As human beings, we were all given a virtue, which is the ability to choose who we truly want to be. If we fail to exercise this ability, others will choose for us.”
