Liew Kee (Ah Lek) Chee Cheong Fun @ Teluk Intan, Perak

Back hometown for Chinese New Year celebration once a year. I really miss my own hometown, especially when comes to food. The first thing came across my mind was the Liew Kee (Ah Lek) Chee Cheong Fun in Jalan Pasir Berdamar, deep inside Teluk Intan small village town. I never put so much hope on eating it, due to large crowd during the night. Well here goes of my funny stories, please read below..

I was having yum cha sessions with a group of friends, suddenly friends in the group highlighted long time did not enjoy Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fun, immediately we rush to pay our yum cha bills and move to midnight supper. What is Chee Cheong Fun? (CCF for short terms means, steamed rice rolls).

As we walked to the car, rain started, thinking of canceling it, but my friends still insisted to get it, slightly about 10 min drive deep inside the town towards Jalan Woo Saik Hong and Jalan Pasir Berdamar. I keep on hinting my friend "aiya, sure long queue want... where got chance lah.. bla bla bla on the car"

As we reached, our jaw dropped. I puzzled "Eh, how come no people? not even 1 on the queue." My friend quickly take orders from the lady boss.This lady boss famous bad manners with customers. I have no idea why, but the way she talked is in harsh way. Even sometimes we are customers, we need to see her face just to get a few packets of Chee Cheong Fun. Well let's ignored the arrogant lady boss.

The process or ordering takes less than 15 min as we're not ordering in a buck, more towards a few packets for each of us only. CNY hike will be extremely EXPENSIVE 1 packet cost RM5.50, compare to those non peak season is RM3.50 each. It's not recommended to eat during festive season.

Liew Kee (Ah Lek) Chee Cheong Fun

It's freshly made from oven, you can feel it on your hand warm. The packet contains finely chopped deep-fried dried prawns, short slices of turnips, chopped up salted radish, deep-fried shallots, and served with slices of pickled green green chilies. I always asked for extra green chilies some how it's disappointing me always. Before you eat, drizzle with a bit of soy sauce on top, scoop with spoon or chopsticks, slowly put into your mouth chew.. Arrgghhh.. it's delicious. Succulent crunchiness warm ingredients filling up your mouth. I find Liew Kei Chee Cheong Fun kinda oily compare to the rest of competitors.

CNY hike RM5.50  per pack / Non peak RM3.50 per pack

One packet it' not enough, you tend to eat more! Reminder, Chee Cheong Fun will make you bloat, made from starchy rice noodles. This become a popular tourist attraction during festive season. Enjoyed this max! Thanks to group of my friends. Happy New Year!!
